The ADAC GT Masters have revealed their 2022 calendar with seven tracks in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
“Stability and continuity for participants and fans had a high priority in the scheduling for the 2022 season after the last 18 troubled months,” says ADAC Sports President Dr. Gerd Ennser. “The heart of the internationally popular GT racing series beats in Germany, which is why the ADAC GT Masters will start on five German racetracks next year. The attractive calendar will be supplemented with races on two popular Formula 1 and MotoGP tracks at our neighbors in Austria and the Netherlands. The Family & Friends Festival at the Lausitzring will be a highlight in the calendar and in the region. ”
A total of 14 races are planned for 2022, starting at the end of April at Oschersleben (April 22-24), the second race weekend is four weeks later at Red Bull Ring (May 20-22).
At the end of June ADAC GT Masters moves to Zandvoort (June 24-26) followed by Nürburgring (August 5-7).
In August, the new ADAC and DEKRA Family & Friends Festival is a new initiative at the Lausitzring (August 19-21). “A colourful mix of different theme worlds, entertainment and motorsport awaits the visitors on the entire 540 hectare area of the racetrack”.
Sachsenring is next (23-25 September) before the title showdown at Hockenheimring (21-23 October) comes.
ADAC makes it clear that in creating the calendar for the 2022 season, they had “once again worked closely with the SRO Motorsport Group and avoided scheduling conflicts with the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the GT World Challenge Europe and GT4 European Series.
“This enables the numerous international top teams and professional drivers of the ADAC GT Masters to start on the European stage. The important long-distance classics at Le Mans, at the Nürburgring and in Spa were also fully taken into account when planning the calendar.”
It is clear that this statement is directly targeted at the rival DTM package which has come under some scrutiny for its calendar clashes in its re-launch phase, in particular as its teams are now a close match for the grids of other series and races.
