300,000 Crowd Expected For Centenary Of 24 Hours Of Le Mans

ACO President Pierre Fillon and a delegation from Le Mans and the FIA WEC were full of praise for the start that IMSA have made to their GTP era at the 2023 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona.

“It’s amazing to see so many people here, it’s great to see so many people coming out to see the start of a new era for the sport. ”

Fillon had just stepped down from the stage in the media centre on Friday where IMSA and ACO leadership had taken questions on a range of subjects – see stories elsewhere on DSC.

Looking ahead to the historic centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans though, there was further  news from the ACO President:

“We have, as many know, sold out of tickets for Le Mans. I now there are many who are disappointed to not have a ticket but we really are at the maximum we can accommodate and I am sorry we cannot accommodate everyone that wants to come.”

How many are expected for the race weekend?

“We are expecting 300,000 for the race which is truly an amazing total.”

Details of how the expected crowds are to be managed are expected in the coming weeks.
