Haupt Racing Team announced today that they will once again compete in the Asian Le Mans Series, which starts in two weeks time in the United Arab Emirates. The team will field two Mercedes-AMG GT3s for the full four-race season.
The black #7 Mercedes-AMG GT3, entered as Al Manar Racing by HRT, will be driven by Mercedes-AMG factory driver Luca Stolz, anchoring the lineup next to two-time and defending Intercontinental GT Challenge Pro-Am Cup winner Martin Konrad, and Omani driver Al Faisal Al Zubair.
The yellow and blue #6 HRT Mercedes will be piloted by Arjun Maini, back for his second season with Haupt, young British driver Frank Bird, and Michael Blanchemain of France.
“It is our second participation in the Asian Le Mans Series and in the GT class we will be competing against strong competition,” said team principal Sean Paul Breslin. “Nevertheless, we are going into the race with ambition, especially as we have already been able to achieve many successes at the Dubai Autodrome in the past. We will work very hard to ensure that we can build on this.”
HRT’s single-car effort recorded four top-ten finishes last season en route to ninth place in the GT Teams’ Championship. Automatic entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be awarded to the champion in every class.
