With a handful of days to go before the Avon Tyres British GT Championship decider at Donington Park this weekend, the good sports at Prism Media have offered up a special opportunity for three DSC readers to attend the race on Sunday and get some behind the scenes access with the Triple Eight-run car of Jody Firth and Warren Hughes.
For the past three years the British GT Championship has gone down to the wire, with the last two of those being held on the Leicestershire track’s 2.498 mile GP layout. A real mix of fast and flowing curves and tight, technical turns, Donington is a stunning backdrop to a final round that will bring to an end a close and challenging season of racing.
As you’ve seen on these pages in previous weeks, Jody and Warren have switched teams to Triple Eight, expanding the Greatworth outfit’s offering to three BMW Z4 GT3s.
Unfortunately, a mechanical issue with the left rear wheel at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago saw their chance to take victory come to an abrupt halt, but the pair are confident of better fortune this weekend and will be going for their first win together in the series, and the team’s first British GT win too.
Currently Jody and Warren sit 26th in the driver’s standings, but a win at the final round would elevate them into a position more in keeping with their previous track record, which has seen them win the UK Speed Series in 2011 and Euro Speed Series in 2012, as well as competitive outings in ELMS, WEC and of course the Le Mans 24 Hours.
