The first draft of the 2023 FIA WEC Six Hours of Fuji entry list reveals that Glickenhaus Racing will not compete in the sixth round of the season in September.
The list features 12 cars in the top class, with Glickenhaus’s #708 007 LMH the only absentee from the group of 13 Hypercars that took part in the 6 Hours of Monza weekend earlier this month.
At Monza, Glickenhaus Racing team owner Jim Glickenhaus was non-committal when asked by DSC what his plans were for the remainder of the 2023 season. He did however say that his intention was to see out the current campaign with the #708, which has competed in each of the first five races.
He also expressed a desire to return to the FIA WEC in 2024, but only if he could secure enough commercial backing to further develop the 007 LMH and alleviate the financial pressures associated with running the programme.
Glickenhaus has yet to travel to either Fuji or Bahrain since joining the Hypercar category. In the 2021 and 2022 seasons, it opted to forego the end-of-season flyaways.
In the other classes, the entry list shows the return of the #98 Northwest AMR Aston Martin Vantage (which skipped Monza due to the IMSA CTMP clash) and Project 1 drivers PJ Hyett and Gunnar Jeanette (also not at Monza due to the scheduling conflict), who are set to race with ‘Rexy’ colours on their 911 RSR 19 upon returning to the championship.
And in LMP2, the drivers that were unable to race in Monza due to clashes are all listed. Juan Manuel Correa and Mirko Bortolotti are set to race with Prema, while Filipe Albuquerque and Tom Blomqvist are both down to return to United Autosports.
