Lone Star Racing will be pulling double-duty this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as will drivers Anton Dias Perera and Scott Andrews.
Perera and Andrews have been announced as the two drivers of the GTD class #15 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the Battle on the Bricks; in addition, the duo will also continue their full-season effort in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge when they drive the #27 Mercedes-AMG GT4 for Lone Star Racing.
The team from Cresson, Texas has been competing on and off in the highest levels of IMSA and SRO America competition for some time, but this is the team’s first IMSA entry since 2019. Last year at Indianapolis, Lone Star Racing provided operational and technical support to the Mercedes-AMG Team Craft Bamboo squad that won the Indianapolis 8 Hour race.
It’ll be the first GT3 race for Tennessee-based gentleman driver Dias Perera, who has driven in the Michelin Pilot Challenge’s Grand Sport (GS) class since 2020 in GT4 cars. He and Andrews have been racing together in the series since 2021, and joined Lone Star Racing full-time in 2023.
Andrews was the LMP3 class winner at the 2021 24 Hours of Daytona, and also won that year’s Michelin Endurance Cup alongside Gar Robinson. The 33-year-old Australian driver finished third in last year’s Daytona 24h at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3, and also entered the August race at Road America in JDC Miller Motorsports’ LMP3 Duquiene D08.
Dias Perera and Andrews are 14th in the Pilot Challenge GS standings with top-five finishes at Sebring and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
