The Heart of Racing Team has announced that Hannah Greenemeier will join the team’s female-forward entry in the 2024 Pirelli GT4 America series’ Am category.
Greenemeier will make her sports car racing debut in the #26 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 after an accomplished career in karting – in which “Hurricane Hannah” became the first woman to win the X-30 ProTour Championship class in the history of SuperKarts USA (SKUSA). The 21-year-old Colorado native made the jump to single-seaters last year and recorded four top-ten finishes in the FIA F4 United States Championship.
She’ll join 24-year-old Hannah Grisham, one of the winners of Heart of Racing’s 2022 female driver search, who is back for her second season in GT4 America. Grisham and the departing Rianna O’Meara-Hunt made history at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when they became the first pair of women to win their class in both legs of the doubleheader season finale. Together they finished sixth in the Am Drivers’ Championship.
“Getting a call from the team to join the Heart of Racing for the 2024 season was probably the best day of my life so far,” said Greenemeier. “To be able to drive for a team that has had so much success means so much to me and my family. I’m looking forward to getting the season started with the team in April at Sonoma.
“I know that I have a lot to learn about sports car racing, but I know that with the help of my co-driver, Hannah Grisham, and everyone else on the team that I will get up to speed quickly. I can’t thank Gabe (Newell, Team Owner), the Bernier family, Ian (James, Team Principal), Paul (Charsley, Sporting Director) and everyone on the team for this incredible opportunity.”
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to continue with the Heart of Racing for a second year in GT4 America,” Grisham added. “I am looking forward to this season with a year under my belt and a more solid foundation to stand on. Year number one has taken me to most of the tracks, helped me to understand my competition, and have a better grasp of our Aston Martin Vantage.
“My goal for this year is to have strong, consistent finishes and hopefully be in a spot towards the end of the year to fight for the championship. I think Hannah Greenemeier and I are capable of this and I’m eager to get to work with her in April at Sonoma.”
Competing alongside the two Hannahs in GT4 America will be IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Champion and Daytona 24 Hours class winner Roman de Angelis, who joins fourth-year driver Gray Newell in the #24 Aston Martin in the Pro-Am category.
De Angelis and Newell took three class wins in 12 races last year and finished joint-fourth in the Pro-Am Drivers’ championship.
“I’m super happy to be back again with Gray competing in the GT4 Pro/Am class with the Heart of Racing,” said De Angelis, who took over from Ian James last season due to James’ newfound commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
“I really enjoyed my time there last year and being teamed up again with Gray who continues to get faster every weekend leaves us with another good shot at race wins and hopefully a Pro-Am championship.”
Newell will also contest his fourth season in the multi-class GT America sprint series, driving the #25 Vantage GT4. The 26-year-old scored two GT4 class pole positions and five podiums in GT America and was a race winner in his rookie season in 2021.
