Paul Dalla Lana was in relaxed mood after the second Free Practice session at Sakhir Circuit Bahrain yesterday and was happy to confirm that his plans currently include a return to the FIA WEC with Aston Martin Racing again in 2015:
“It’s been a great year and we could still win this but either way I’m looking set to be back next year. It looks like we’ll be without Christoffer (Nygaard) next year (the Dane has been dealt a Gold driver rating for 2015) but Pedro has had an awesome year.
“I like the Championship, have resolved most of the issues around the physical time needed to travel and just be here at the races, and really want to come back and use the knowledge I’ve gained this year. There have been a number of tracks that I have never been to before (including this one).
Beyond that there are other races I’m interested in doing, including the big ones in North America. I’d like to do those in this (GTE/ GTLM) car. (This looks set to emerge as an NAEC campaign with at least one Aston Martin Vantage GTE).
“There are some other big races in Europe too that we are looking at.”
Dalla Lana is not though expected to see action in 2015 in his BMW Z4GT3s run last season by Turner Motorsport in TUSCC (GTD) and Pirelli World Challenge).
“Will did a great job with the cars last year (Turner winning GTD Drivers and Team titles) and he’s got some good programmes coming together.”
Dalla Lana’s #98 Aston Martin is now the only remaining challenger to the GTE Am leading #95 ‘Dane Train, the points gap is a mighty 31 points with a maximum of 52 now available but, as we saw last time out in Shanghai, drama is never far away in the WEC!
