MISHUMOTORS is pleased to announce that 60-year-old veteran driver Mirco Schultis will return to drive the fan-favourite #70 Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R in the 2025 GT America powered by AWS series. Schultis will be back behind the wheel of the previous-generation Corvette GT3 platform, beginning at the opening round of the GT America season in Sonoma Raceway, California.
Sonoma will be the first of an eight-round calendar for GT America that will also make a stop at the historic Grand Prix of Long Beach, supporting the NTT INDYCAR Series and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 11–13 April around the legendary street circuit. The multi-class sprint series will also make stops at Circuit of the Americas, Sebring, VIRginia International Raceway, Road America, Barber Motorsports Park, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
And after proposed changes to the race structure that were announced late last year, SRO America has decided to revert GT America to its original 40-minute, single-driver sprint format – which led Schultis and MISHUMOTORS to return to the series.
“I made the decision to come back in January after SRO went back to the old GT America race format. I’m looking forward especially to Long Beach, where I had the second fastest lap in both races. For sure, it’s an old lady that never got an EVO package…but I just love her. It’s difficult to fight with the others on some circuits where aero is needed. But I’m looking forward to testing myself against the competition this year,” Schultis said.
While the car will be a bit older than some of its competition, it will have a vibrant new look as Paulaner Sunset becomes the new primary sponsor of the MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette. Sunset’s yellow, orange, pink, and purple cans and bottles of all-natural, German-brewed orange cola have inspired the fresh, funky new 2025 livery that will be as distinct as the sound of the Callaway Corvette’s 6.2-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine.
The car will be prepared out of the SRQ Motorsports shop in Sarasota, Florida – continuing a relationship that began in 2023 – and Schultis will continue to work with Race Engineer Mike Gramke from Callaway Germany.
This year is the Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R’s tenth season of racing, having originally made its global competition debut in Germany in 2016. The C7 GT3-R achieved its greatest success in 2017 when Callaway Competition won the ADAC GT Masters Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships, led by future GT World Challenge Europe Champion and Spa 24 Hours winner Jules Gounon.
Other examples of the C7 GT3-R have won races in GT World Challenge Asia and the SRO Japan Cup series, and, for a brief period, raced in Pirelli World Challenge – the predecessor to today’s GT World Challenge America.
In 2022, MISHUMOTORS brought Callaway GT3-R chassis #001, which had been originally used by the Callaway Competition team, to compete in GT America. Over the past three seasons, Schultis and the Callaway Corvette have compiled eight SRO3 class podiums in 40 races, with a best finish of second at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2022.
