Mitchell Replaces Mapelli For Watkins Glen

Lamborghini's flying Scotsman makes his fourth IMSA appearance for as many teams, in relief of Nurburgring-bound Mapelli at Pfaff

Pfaff Motorsports has announced that Sandy Mitchell will replace Marco Mapelli at next week’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

Mapelli, who has driven the #9 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 alongside Andrea Caldarelli this season, will not be available due to his commitments in the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race for ABT Sportsline.

His fellow Lamborghini Squadra Corse driver, Mitchell, will make his first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship start of the year. The 2020 British GT Champion has made three previous IMSA appearances since 2022, driving for three different teams – which will now be four teams in four IMSA races.

He’s previously driven for CarBahn with Peregine Racing, Forte Racing, and Wayne Taylor Racing, all in GTD Lamborghinis.

Mitchell joins a Pfaff team that is currently eighth in the GTD PRO standings, coming off its first podium of the season in the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic.
