Mercedes-AMG has teased a new GT car for its range, dubbed the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, with a set of images this morning.
The images showcase a camouflaged GT car that is being finalised before it begins track testing. It is described as “uncompromising” and “born in Affalterbach to set new record times”.
“With the new concept vehicle, Mercedes‑AMG demonstrates its great expertise as a sports car manufacturer and provides a preview of a possible expansion of the GT series with a V8 engine,” the announcement reads.
It’s highly likely that this is the first glimpse of the model that will form the basis of the brand’s next-generation GT3 car in the future, showcased to boost interest in what’s set to be a near-future limited production model.
German media reports suggest that Mercedes-AMG is close to unveiling its new GT3 car, which is believed to feature a carbon-fibre chassis, a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8, and the first car from the new Affalterbach Racing GmbH organisation.
To this point all of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing’s prior and current GT model ranges, including the current GT2, GT3, and GT4 versions of the current AMG GT, have been built by HWA, based alongside AMG’s Headquarters in Affalterbach.
