GT World Challenge Australia Calendar Finalised, Adelaide Returns

GT World Challenge Australia has finalised its 2026 calendar, with the announcement that the series will return to the Adelaide Street Circuit for the first time since 2023.

The six-round schedule was first unveiled at this year’s 24 Hours of Spa, with the venue for the finale listed as ‘TBA’. This slot has now been filled with a place on the support package at the Supercars Championship’s Adelaide Grand Final from 3rd to 6th December 2026.

The rest of the calendar has gone unchanged in this updated version.

Phillip Island will again play host to the season opener, before a visit to Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in May.

The third round will be held at Queensland Raceway in June, before the series makes its maiden visit to Hidden Valley Raceway at the end of July.

Sydney Motorsport Park will host the penultimate event, before the season concludes in Adelaide.

This means that Sandown Raceway, which returned to the calendar this year after a two-season break, and Hampton Downs, which was new for 2025, have both been dropped from the schedule for 2026.

Sandown will, however, continue to host GT4 Australia. GT World Challenge Australia and GT4 Australia will share their first five dates in 2026 as a part of the Shannons SpeedSeries package, but the latter will hold its finale at Sandown Raceway on 30th October to 1st November, instead of making the trip to Adelaide.

“We are pleased to officially lock in our calendar for 2026 with an event as prestigious as the Adelaide Grand Final,” SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan said.

“To return to the Adelaide street circuit and wrap our season is an exciting prospect for the category, and I have no doubt that our teams, drivers, and other stakeholders will thoroughly enjoy going there.

“This race track has a rich motorsport history, having been where the Australian Grand Prix raced back in the day, while the Adelaide Grand Final event itself is one of the biggest in the country, so it’s a fantastic opportunity for the category to be able to see off the year on that platform.

“A big thank you to the South Australian Motorsport Board for helping this get over the line, and I look forward to seeing a full field of the best GT cars in Australia battling it out at this iconic event at the end of 2026.”
