Ginetta squad Team CMR has announced plans to compete in the 2026 GT2 European Series, with a pair of G56 GT2s.
One entry will be shared by the experienced pairing of Ginetta CEO Lawrence Tomlinson and Ginetta Motorsport CEO Mike Simpson, who will compete in the Pro-Am class.
The sister car will be driven by series debutants Ethan Gialdini and Mikkel Njor, and compete in the new-for-2026 Silver Cup class. The pair are both eligible for the SRO GT Academy, and as such will be competing for a fully funded drive in next year’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
Both drivers have prior history with Ginetta – Gialdini finished sixth last year’s FFSA GT championship aboard a CMR-run G56 GT4, whilst Njor is a race winner in the Ginetta Nordic Challenge.
The Ginetta G56 GT2 made its global racing debut at last year’s GT2 European Series finale at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson finishing on the podium in both races. The car has since competed in the 24H Series Middle East Trophy, where it won the GTX class title.
Team CMR’s GT2 Europe assault is the first confirmed customer race programme for the 6.3-litre V8-powered machine.
2026 is set to be CMR’s first full season in the GT2 European Series, although it has previously made multiple one-off appearances, most recently fielding a Ginetta G56 GTX at Spa in 2024, and then the G56 GT2 at Barcelona last season.
“Running two cars in GT2 Europe in 2026 is exactly where we want CMR to be,” said Team Owner Charly Bourachot.
“It reflects the confidence we have in the championship, in our partnership with Ginetta, and in the direction we’re taking the team. We’re here because we believe GT2 has a strong and exciting future.”
The 2026 GT2 European Series begins at Monza on 30th to 31st May 2026.
