With thanks to our friends in China from BEC Motorsports we can report a potentially significant update from a major player in the country’s automotive industry.
Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, recently shared several motorsport-related updates on his personal social media.
During the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix weekend, Mr. Wei was seen attending the event and engaging directly with the event.
In addition, he also visited the China GT pre-season test, where he experienced a GT3 race car as a passenger with the Phantom Global Racing team.
In a video published via his personal social media channels, Mr. Wei mentioned that Great Wall Motors may consider developing a GT3 race car or introducing a dedicated racing model to a broader market in the future.
While no official program has been confirmed, the statement has drawn widespread attention across China’s automotive and motorsport media landscape.
BEC Motorsports has reached out to Great Wall Motors for further clarification. At this stage, the company has indicated that any information regarding potential racing programs or new models should be subject to official announcements.
