Acura’s factory presence in the IMSA GTP class beyond 2026 is believed to be in doubt. RACER.com’s Marshall Pruett has reported today that after nine seasons of top-level competition for the brand in IMSA’s DPi and GTP classes, the 10th could be its last.
Rumours in recent weeks across the WEC and IMSA paddocks concerning the future of the ARX-06 programme (activated by Honda Racing Corporation US and serviced by Meyer Shank Racing) claim that it is at risk. And according to Pruett’s story, it is due to “the state of the global auto sales and the costly shuttering of multiple EVs in the production pipeline”.
The story adds: “Although some have positioned the GTP programme as being headed towards a definite pause, RACER understands a possible scenario involves shifting the IMSA effort to a different team that would play an increased role in underwriting the campaign in 2027 and beyond.”
A statement from a brand representative reads: “We’ve made no decisions about our 2027 programme. Once a decision is made, it will be shared.”
