SRO has announced the schedule for its official European Prologue tests in 2027, with a significant shift in date for the 24 Hours of Spa Prologue.
The two-day event, which has taken place in mid-to-late May since the 24 Hours of Spa switched to an earlier date in 2023, will be held on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th June next year.
This means that the Prologue will conclude just eight days before the start of track action for the 24 Hours of Spa itself, which will take place on the weekend of 24th to 27th June 2027. It will also begin only two days after the conclusion of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, potentially making for a quick turnaround for various drivers, teams and other personnel.
With SRO Speedweek being held at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from 18th to 20th June, it makes for an intense two weeks of action at the Ardennes venue.
This change follows a trend observed at several other major 24-hour races in recent years, with both the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans having moved their official pre-event tests closer to the race weekend earlier this decade.
The 2027 GT World Challenge Europe Prologue, meanwhile, will be held at the Circuit Paul Ricard, France on 13th and 14th April 2027. The decision has been made to continue hosting the event the week of the season opener following a successful introduction for the new date this year, although a one-day break has now been established between the end of the Prologue and the race meeting, which will take place from 16th to 18th April.
This break will be filled by the new-for-2027 GT4 European Series Prologue, with SRO’s second-tier European series being given its own official Prologue test for the first time.
