Le Maine Libre reports that a suspect was arrested and remanded in custody last week in a continuing investigation into a large number of forest fires (up to 50) which were apparently set in the woodlands, principally around Mulsanne, but with some further afield.
The spate of fires began on July 10,and continued through to late August affecting 250 hectares of forest, including large swathes around the Le Mans circuit and were severe enough, in more than one instance, to require the use of a French Civil Protection Water Bomber.
