The packed weekend timetable continues here in Bahrain with the main GP2 completed this morning won by Mitch Evans, who tests for Porsche here tomorrow, McLaren F1 reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne second after a fine battle with Alex Lynn (who tests for Toyota tomorrow).

There was less racing luck for some other sportscar regulars with Nathaneal Berthon not classified in GP2 after a late race issue, Jann Mardenborough eliminated from this morning’s GP3 race after first lap contact and Abdulaziz Al Faisal hitting trouble in the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East.

The weather is suitably ‘Scorchio’ today after a little rain overnight but only high level cloud expected today.

The issue for the lighting system here last night that interrupted the start of the GTE Qualifying session has been fully investigated, the fault tracked and dealt with.

Sunset is at 16:50 local here just under 2 hours in to the 6 Hour race.
