Nissan’s heavily revised GT-R LM NISMO LMP1 car is testing at the NOLA facility for two days, it’s first track outing since the post Le Mans test at CoTA.
The car though is still without it’s planned battery based hybrid system, and is unlikely to run with the system installed until well into the new year ahead of a planned full season two car effort for the whole FIUA WEC (with two cars planned too for Le Mans).
Media reports have suggested that the factory team will be testing a tranche of new drivers: Nelson Piquet Jr, Memo Rojas and Bruno Junquiera are all named but there has been no confirmation from the Nissan team.
Whilst Olivier Pla is believed to have been released from his Nissan contract, the Frenchman expected to be named as part of the WEC squad for Ford’s GTE effort, the remaining 2015 drivers are understood to be retained at present.
