Multiple sources in Daytona confirmed that Rebellion Racing’s planned two car LMP1 programme for the 2018/ 19 FIA WEC ‘Super Season’ will see their ORECA chassis equipped with a Gibson V8 power plant (LMP2 version pictured above), rumours of a VAG sourced or badged engine seemingly wide of the mark.
With nine cars currently confirmed for the full season, and other potential entries still in prospect, the season is set to see both numbers and variety with no as yet announced effort running the same chassis and engine combination as any other competitor.
Aside from the Toyota TS050s the season is set to see:
A Ginetta G60-LT-P1 chassis for TRS Manor, presumed at present to be fitted with the Mecachrome turbo V6,
Two BR01 Dallara chassis for SMP Racing with AER power,
A single BR01 for Dragonspeed with a Gibson engine,
Two Oreca LMP1s for Rebellion with the Gibson powerplant, and
The return of ByKolles with their modified CLM chassis powered by a Cosworth/ NISMO turbo V6
