The season opener of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe at Monza this weekend will see the Haupt Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3s in their 2021 liveries for the first time.
The #4 car will wear the pink livery of BWT and will be driven by Vincent Abril, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz, who already clinched a podium finish in the Endurance Cup together last year.
In Monza, Engel (#4) and Sanchez (#5) will also line up on the virtual race track in the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series. With a podium finish in the one-hour simracing event, the two drivers have the chance to collect valuable points for HRT in the team classification of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe. Only drivers from the real-world GT field are allowed to compete in the digital competition.
“We are coming to Monza this weekend with two competitive cars on the grid – one in Pro class, one in the Silver Cup. It is a unique start to the season as we will also be taking part simultaneously in the Esports GT Pro Series at the weekend. So after all the long winter months, we’re really looking forward to get back to racing”, states HRT team principal Sean Paul Breslin.
