Oman Racing are set to be the only team flying the flag for Aston Martin in the Blancpain GT Series this year, with plans to run one Vantage in the Endurance Series.

Team principal Dave Bartrum spoke to DSC about the team’s effort:

“We’ve got the updates on the cars, the new dampers and all the extra bits, and it’s improved the car, but it’s still not the same as having a totally brand new one,” he told DSC.

“I do think there is something to be said about having a car which we know going into this season, everyone else will still be getting used to theirs. So when it comes to Spa, we know that when it comes to reliability that the Vantage is great.

“Our driver lineup will also be great, with Ahmad (Al Harthy), Jonny (Adam) and new for this year Devon Modell. In terms of Pro Am, I’m very confident.”

The team also confirmed to DSC that it has potential plans to run a second car at the Spa 24 Hours, and possibly a car in the Brands Hatch round of the Sprint Cup.

In terms of the team’s commitment to the series, a lot of that comes down to SRO’s ethos, according to Bartrum.

“I really like what (Stephane) Ratel is doing here, he knows what he’s doing,” Bartrum continued. “He’s a good showman, he’s Alan Gow, but on a bigger scale.”
