Vilander & Molina Win Race 2 For R.Ferri

Baptista and Soulet win GTA

R.Ferri Motorsport dominated the second Pirelli World Challenge SprintX race at Lime Rock on Monday, its Ferrari 488 GT3 of Toni Vilander and Miguel Molina cruising to victory after leading from the start, marking the team’s third win of the year.

The R.Ferri duo of Toni Vilander and Miguel Molina inherited the lead at the start of the race after the pole-sitting CRP Racing Mercedes of Raffaele Marciello encountered issues on the pace lap and stopped. From there it was mostly plain sailing for Molina, who handed over to Vilander at the stops, the Finn holding the lead after the stops and extending he and Molina’s championship lead

Behind, the Race 1-winning Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R held second early, but Spencer Pumpelly lost the place in the second half of the race to Alvaro Parente, who steered the #9 K-PAX Racing Bentley to second, crossing the line 2.5 seconds off the leading Ferrari.

After that, Pumpelly ended up fighting hard with Pfaff Motorsports’ Porsche of Scott Hargrove but was able to hold station and finish on the podium.

Further down the order, rounding out the top five, K-PAX’s second Continental GT3 of Rodrigo Baptista and Maxime Soulet ended up winning the Pro-Am class after finishing second in the first encounter.

The Bentley ended up finishing far ahead of the team’s nearest Pro-Am competitors in the Race 1-winning #9 TruSpeed Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Parker Chase and Ryan Dalziel who finished seventh behind the Lone Star Racing Mercedes.

The TR3 Racing Ferrari ended up third in the class, after a quiet outing for Wei Lu and Jeff Segal.

By default, the Squadra Corse Garage Italia Ferrari won the GTA class, Caeser Bacarella and Martin Fuentes the class’ only entries for the races at Lime Rock.
