Competition Motorsports is set to return to the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2019, with a new line-up for its Porsch 911 GT3 R.
This year, due to the rule change which means four-man crews are no longer permitted, Competition will race with David Calvert Jones, Porsche Factory Driver Kevin Estre and up-and-coming Porsche star Jaxon Evans.
Talented 22-year-old Kiwi Jaxon Evans joins the team after a standout year racing and winning the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup. He topped this off by the beating ten other international candidates in the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme and as a result, will compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2019.
“I can’t wait to get back to one of the most iconic circuits in the world, alongside the other drivers in the Competition Porsche,” said Evans. “This will will be my first official race as a ‘Porsche Junior’. The team has produced some amazing results in previous years and the Porsche GT3R seems to suit the layout. This will be something we will look to replicate. 30-year-old Frenchman Estre meanwhile, has a truly impressive racing CV and a wealth of experience in multiple categories. In recent years he has spent much time at the wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR with the factory Porsche outfit, and in 2018 won the GTE Pro class of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
“I’m very happy to join Competition Motorsports for the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour!” Said Estre. “David and his team are always competitive and have finished on the overall podium as well as great class results. I really love the Bathurst track, it’s one of the last circuits in the world which gives such an adrenaline rush every lap you drive. The disparity of cars and drivers- plus the fact that there are no run-off areas on the Mountain- makes it a huge challenge in the traffic. I can’t wait for February!”
