GruppeM Racing topped a second Friday Free Practice session in FP4 with the Mann Filters backed #999 Mercedes AMG GT3, Raffaele Marciello again the fastest man, matching his top ranking on the timesheets in FP2.
Marciello’s 2:03.588 lap would stand of the quickest of the day across all four Free Practice sessions.
The late-running in the session saw several other cars in the mix for top positions, but none would better the earlier #999 time, set before a brief red flag interruption after a clash between a BW M6 GT3 and one of the M Motorsport KTMs left the Class C runner requiring assistance out of the gravel.
The #22 Audi Team Valvoline R8 LMS of Kelvin van der Linde though was just four hundredths shy at the flag after a late session push by the South African.
BMW Team Schnitzer’s Martin Tomczyk had sat in the second slot until the Audi improvement, the #42 M6 GT3 would end the session third a couple of tenths astray with HubAuto’s Nick Foster a similar gap back in fourth in the #27 Ferrari 488 GT3.
Fastest of the non-Class A cars was the #20 Class I T2 Racing by Liajen Motorsport entry, going three seconds quicker than the fastest Class B entry of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia squad.
It was another car which ended up on top of the Class C pack with the #71 KTM finishing the session on top, proving to be the fastest of the GT4 cars.
Action resumes on Saturday morning at 8:35 local time as the teams get in their final runs before qualifying and the top ten shootout tomorrow afternoon.
