New Mercedes AMG GT2 Tests At Monza

Mercedes AMG’s new-for 2023 GT2 car was testing at Monza last week with at least two examples of the car testing.

The new car, set for customer deliveries later this year, joins GT2 offerings from Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, KTM, and Brabham, while the Maserati MC20 GT2 is also set to join in 2023.

With 707bhp from its four-litre Biturbo V8 AMG engine, the Mercedes-AMG GT2 will be quicker in a straight-line than its phenomenally successful AMG GT3 sister.

GT2 though is designed to offer more accessible levels of aero performance, putting the emphasis of the package on enjoyment for a non-Pro driver.

One of the cars testing at Monza is clearly an early development car, still featuring the road car filler flap on the right rear below the dry-break filler ahead of the car’s B-pillar.

The two GT2s tested alongside a Mercedes AMG-One, the much delayed road/ track hypercar featuring a powertrain developed from Mercedes AMG’s F1 unit.
