With the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 Competizione Hypercar shaking down at Vallelunga over the next couple of days, it’s a good time to catch up with where plans currently lie with the effort.
The brand’s partnership with Vector Sport to field the car when it makes a race debut seems secure, the UK-based squad supporting the testing programme and ramping up to add the Hypercar programme to its LMP2 effort (which will continue alongside any Isotta Fraschini entry this year).
DSC caught up with I-F managing director Claudio Berro for an update on the programme prior to the first roll-out:
“We have been in the wind tunnel at Sauber collecting some interesting data and then went back to the four-wheel-drive dyno to give us time to calibrate the settings for all of the electrical and electronic systems, working closely with Bosch.”

Is it still the plan to race this year if possible?
“I would like to do some races this year. It’s clear our dream is to be at Monza for our home race.
“If the car is homologated by then we would like to do the six-hour Monza race. If not then we will target Japan (Fuji) and Bahrain.
“That is no problem for us. We would like to do all three races but if, for whatever reason, it was only two that is not a disaster for us!”
How many chassis do you now have available?
“We now have three chassis.

“The second chassis did the (FIA) crash test after Sebring. The first chassis is our test car and the third chassis will likely become our race car.
“Chassis two is set to become the first ‘Stradale’ version of the car, for the road.”
