Kvyat Joins Lamborghini Factory Roster For 2024 LMDh Programme

The ex-F1 man will compete in IMSA and the WEC

Former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat has been named a Lamborghini factory driver and will compete with the Italian brand in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as part of its forthcoming LMDh programme with Iron Lynx.

The F1 podium finisher, who is currently competing in the FIA WEC’s LMP2 class with Prema Racing, will play a key role in developing the Lamborghini LMDh prototype, which is being developed with chassis partner Ligier and make its race debut next season. The car is expected to compete in the full 2024 FIA WEC season and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races.

“We are thrilled to have Daniil onboard,” said Andrea Piccini, Iron Lynx Team Principal and CEO. “The speed he showed during his time in F1 is going to be a huge asset to the team. Not only that, but a podium at Sebring on his FIA WEC debut made quite the impression and bodes well for his future in endurance racing. We are looking forward to testing the LMDh car with him this season before the real challenge begins in 2024.”

Kvyat, who will compete with Lamborghini under an Italian licence, added: “I am very happy to have joined Lamborghini Squadra Corse, it is a great honour for me. Lamborghini is a very well-known Italian brand with a great history in the automotive world and, having grown up in Italy, this is an additional source of pride for me. We hope to achieve many goals together, I am thankful for their trust in me and I look forward to starting work with the Lamborghini Iron Lynx Team on the LMDh project this year.”

Kvyat becomes the fourth driver confirmed for the Lamborghini Iron Lynx LMDh programme, after Andrea Caldarelli, Mirko Bortolotti and Romain Grosjean were named as drivers for the effort last year.
