Inter Europol Competition has confirmed the three drivers that will share its #32 LMP2 Pro-Am entered ORECA 07 Gibson in this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The Polish team has signed the Danish duo of Anders Fjordbach and Jan Magnussen as well as Mark Kvamme.
Former Corvette factory driver Jan Magnussen joins the team for what will be his 24th start in the race. The Dane, who made his debut at Le Mans in 1999, has four class wins to his name and will hope to add to his successes this year.
“It is extra special, as it will be my 24th participation in Le Mans,” he said. “Crazy to think that during my first race in 1999, I said to the press that I would not come back again. When I later crossed the finish line and saw the crew standing on the pit wall tired, dirty but also happy to see the car finish the race, everything changed.
“Since then, Le Mans has been the greatest moment of the year, and I’m happy to be back again for another try. With only weeks until the start, we have limited time for testing and preparation, but with a strong team behind us combined with a line-up of drivers with lots of long-distance experience, we are optimistic and looking forward to getting started.”
Fjordbach meanwhile, brings extensive LMP2 experience from the ELMS, FIA WEC and IMSA to the team.
“I am looking forward to continuing the fight with Jan Magnussen after a fun, but certainly also challenging Le Mans in 2021,” he added.
62-year-old Californian Kvamme will make his second Le Mans start with this effort, but his first in LMP2. He is no stranger to sharing a car with Magnussen, as he drove with him in this year’s Rolex 24 Hours in an MDK Motorsports GTD-class Porsche.
“I have already had the pleasure of sharing a racing car with Jan through our work with MDK Motorsports in the USA, and we have often talked about a joint effort at Le Mans,” he revealed.
“I’m honoured to line up with two such skilled and experienced drivers with Inter Europol Competition as Jan and Anders and at the same time I am looking forward to experiencing the enormous Danish support that you have heard so much about at Le Mans!”
In addition to the #32, Inter Europol will field its full-season FIA WEC-entered #34 ORECA in the race, with Jakub Śmiechowski, Fabio Scherer and Albert Costa.
