The VLN has set up a donation account to support those affected by the tragic incident during the test and set-up on Friday in the run-up to the annual ROWE 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen (NLS4).
The latest news from the series is that the explosion – caused by a compressed air bottle – injured 22 people, four of them seriously.
“The solidarity in the paddock was great on Friday evening and Saturday and I was spontaneously approached by many drivers, team bosses, partners and friends asking how we could support the people and teams affected,” says VLN boss Mike Jäger.
“For this reason, we decided in close consultation with those affected to set up a corresponding donation account as the VLN.
“As far as the state of health of the injured is concerned – we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope for a good recovery. The donations, on the other hand, will be used to alleviate the monetary damage for all those affected and to cushion any follow-up costs that may arise.
“We are one big family at the Ring and stand closely together even in difficult times.”
