Reigning DTM manufacturers’ champion Mercedes-AMG has confirmed its plans for the 2025 season. The German brand will be represented by Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf and Winward Racing as well as AMG drivers Lucas Auer, Maro Engel, Jules Gounon and Tom Kalender.
Triple ADAC GT Masters championship-winning outfit Landgraf is back in the DTM after a year hiatus, taking over the space on the grid with AMG that was filled in 2024 by HRT, which has switched brands to Ford for 2025.
The Klaus Landgraf-led team will field cars for 2022 runner up Lucas Auer and 16-year-old rookie Tom Kalender, who clinched the 2024 GT Masters title in his debut season with the team.
“It’s a privilege that Mercedes-AMG and Landgraf Motorsport have put their trust in me for a DTM season,” Kalender said. “It certainly won’t be easy against the established drivers. But with the team, I have a familiar environment in which I feel comfortable.
“That gives me a good feeling. I try not to put any pressure on myself and at the same time I will give it my all. I got through my first GT3 season very well with this mindset.”
Winward meanwhile, continues its DTM journey which began in 2021 with two cars for Maro Engel and Jules Gounon, who will combine this programme with his new full-season FIA WEC Hypercar ride with Alpine.
“I’m super proud to be a DTM driver – that was always my goal,” Gounon added. “In the series, I’m competing against drivers who have been racing there for many years in some cases. So personally, I’m starting at a slight disadvantage, but my team is joining since the beginning of GT3 and is one of the most experienced.
“My motto is to learn quickly and achieve good results. As a child, I was a fan of my compatriot Laurent Aïello, who won the DTM in 2002. Now I want to achieve the same with Mercedes-AMG and Winward Racing.”
Christoph Sagemüller, the head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, concluded: “The connection between Mercedes-AMG and the DTM has a long tradition. We are the most successful brand in the DTM. In addition to defending the manufacturers’ title, we are clearly also aiming for the drivers’ championship again.
“In doing so, we are relying on a powerful line-up. In addition to two very professional teams and three extremely experienced drivers, we also have the youngest driver in the DTM field to date.
“In my opinion, it`s a very good mix with great potential to continue our commendable story.”
