As its Hypercar programme nears its race debut, Genesis Magma Racing is adapting its Trajectory Programme for 2026, with a new emphasis on individual driver development.
As such, Korean single-seaters racers Michael Shin and Kyuho Lee will both join returnee Jamie Chadwick in the programme for this season.
Shin is set to make his FIA Formula 3 debut with Hitech this year, whilst Lee will take on GB3 with Elite Motorsport in his second year of car racing. Both drivers will compete with Genesis Magma Racing branding on their cars and race suits.
Chadwick, meanwhile, was previously confirmed to be combining a return to IDEC Sport in the European Le Mans Series’ LMP2 category with a Reserve Driver role for the GMR-001 Hypercar project.
The Trajectory Programme was started last year, with the aim of preparing Genesis Magma Racing for the FIA WEC. This involved running an ORECA 07 – Gibson LMP2 in collaboration with IDEC Sport in the ELMS and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, giving drivers and crew members the opportunity to learn about prototype racing.
“The Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Programme was incredibly successful in preparing us as a team for the FIA World Endurance Championship,” said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini.
“It was a vital platform where Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella could gain experience and show the capabilities that led to them becoming part of our 2026 team. This year, the Trajectory Programme will solely focus on driver development. We will closely follow the progress of all our Trajectory drivers supporting them in their motorsport careers.”
Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul added: “One of our targets has always been to raise the profile of motorsport in South Korea. We want to be the ambassadors of all motorsport for the country and supporting two top Korean talents is a key step, even while they race outside of sportscars, where our main focus is as a team.
“Both Michael and Kyuho clearly have the ambition and talent to build international racing careers, and I am proud that we can support them in their next steps.”
Later this year, Genesis is set to become the first Korean manufacturer to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a two-car effort in the Hypercar category.
