The 16th edition of the Gulf 12 Hours has been deferred until the winter of 2027/ 2028. The event had been scheduled to take place on 10 January 2027 at Yas Marina Circuit.
The decision has been taken in light of continuing uncertainties, and increased costs, of logistics in the Middle East due to the ongoing security situation.
Driving Force Events, organisers of the event said earlier today in a statement:
“Earlier this year, clear operational criteria were established for the event.
“Despite recent apparently encouraging developments, freight costs remain several times above normal levels, logistics transit times continue to be unpredictable and no clear timeline for a return to standard operations has emerged.
“With planning windows now closed, the next edition has been deferred by one year.
“The decision reflects a shared commitment with long-standing teams and partners to preserving the standards that define the event.
The race meeting has been held 14 times at Yas marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and once, during the COVID 19 pandemic, at Bahrain International Circuit.
Further announcements are expected in the coming days with Driving Force Events also preparing to unveil a new project “that reflects the same passion, ambition and international spirit that have defined the organisation since 2012”.
