As GT World Challenge enters its summer break, with three off-weekends before action resumes at the end of August, Mercedes-AMG holds a 29-point lead in its quest for an eighth consecutive manufacturers’ championship.
The German marque has spent this season locked in a duel with local rival Porsche, which has seen the pair swap the lead five times with 27 of 46 rounds complete.
Porsche entered June just seven points back, but ceded 84 points over the weekend of 13th to 14th June, when GT World Challenge Australia was at Queensland and GT World Challenge America headed to Road Atlanta.
Victory at the 24 Hours of Spa for Porsche customer team Lionspeed GP, however, helped cut the gap to just eight points, with Porsche then taking over the lead when GT World Challenge Asia visited Fuji at the beginning of July.
Porsche’s gap grew to 55 points after GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup’s first race at Misano, before Mercedes-AMG reclaimed the lead at GT World Challenge Australia’s Hidden Valley event, and extended it further at Magny-Cours last weekend.
Mercedes-AMG now has 766 points, with Porsche on 737.
The best performing manufacturer across the past two months has been Ferrari, which has outscored Mercedes-AMG by 30 points to cut its deficit to only 105 points. Wins at Queensland and Fuji, as well as a 3-4 finish at the 24 Hours of Spa, have headlined the Pracing Horse’s results so far this summer.
BMW M currently sits fourth, ahead of Audi and McLaren, whilst Aston Martin has moved up to seventh after a solid outing at the 24 Hours of Spa. Lamborghini, Ford and Chevrolet complete the table with 19 races to go.
GT World Challenge returns to action on the 28th to 30th August 2026, with a triple-header weekend. GT World Challenge Asia is at Okayama, GT World Challenge America heads to Road America, and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup will compete at the Nürburgring.
