The driver list for the Le Mans Test Day this coming Sunday has been published with a handful of additions, and a trio of pre-approved absences.
Alex Wurz is announced as 4th driver on Toyota #5 and #6. That sees Alex as a reserve driver plus Toyota Gazoo Racing Ambassador plus race grand marshall… busy lad!
Simon Gachet, ELMS LMP3 driver for Panis-Barthez Competition, is announced as 4th driver (and official reserve driver in the team’s #23 LMP2 Ligier.
Dean Koutsoumidis (Driver for Algarve Pro in last year’s Asian Le Mans Series) is announced as 4th driver in Race Performance #34 Oreca -3R Judd.
There are just three drivers slated to the part in the race proper that are not due to be present on test day:
Joao Barbosa is not due to be present, he’s otherwise engaged with Action Express at Detroit’s IMSA race.
Both Sebastien Bourdais and Scott Dixon are also due to be at Detroit, this time on Indycar duty and will not be present at the Test Day.
All three are Platinum ranked drivers and have dispensation to take part in the clashing event.
A reminder on the new test day regulations:
- Teams can nominate up to 5 drivers on test day
- Drivers must cover 10 laps minimum during test day except for those who attended the 24H of Le Mans over the past 5 consecutive years or those who are ranked platinum.
