Fausto Mattei grabbed some shots of an unusual ‘prototype’ being tested at Monza a couple of weeks ago.
The car is apparently is the “CERBERO LMP Road Car”, a somewhat extreme sports car homologated for road use and developed by the Italian company Mosca Automobili Torino.
It incorporates solutions directly derived from the world of LMP (Le Mans Prototype) racing cars, including a mid-engined layout and a push-rod suspension system with independent asymmetric double wishbones. The pre-production powertrain is a naturally aspirated Ford Coyote V8.
The designer, Ivan Mosca, told us: “We have no intention of homologating the car for competition, but it will be road-legal for use on public roads.
“We are already working on the pre-production series, and there will be a two-seater version.
“We are currently signing contracts and forming partnerships with the aim of ideally producing 10 cars per year, but we are still looking for partners who share our vision and could potentially contribute to bringing this project to fruition.
“Our target market is the gentleman driver, someone ready to embrace the concept of a very extreme car, designed for an intended use of 80% on track and 20% on public roads.”
