A selection of images of the Aston Martin new-for-2024 Vantage GT3 have been released from a test day at Silverstone yesterday.
The car, which is an evolution of the current Vantage AMR GT3, is understood to be in its final testing phase ahead of its debut next season.
It will conform to all GT3 rulesets, including the new-for-2024 LMGT3 rules that will be adopted by both the FIA WEC and European Le Mans Series which features the addition of a torque meter sensors. DSC also understands that the current Vantage can be converted to the 2024-spec car via an upgrade kit.
Notably, in the pictures the test car is running on Pirellis, with day-glow yellow tape that matches the profile of the current car’s headlamps. But as will be noted from this close-up, the evo’s headlamps are significantly larger.
At Silverstone, the car was tested, amongst others, by Aston Martin factory drivers Darren Turner and Jonny Adam.
DSC sources confirmed that driver feedback from the Silverstone and prior endurance testing, has been universally positive. The drivers involved feel that it is a huge step forward from the current model, with one pro driver stating “it’s the easiest GT car I have ever driven”.
Beyond the FIA WEC, AMR intends to build a customer base with the new car that will ensure it has a presence in GT3 competition around the world. The first new customer for the GT3 was announced as Comtoyou Racing, which is switching from Audi machinery next season.
Heart of Racing is the likely entrant for at least one of a two-car LMGT3 entry for the 2024 FIA WEC, with both cars both understood to be run in conjunction with Prodrive and Aston Martin Racing.
While the test programme is believed to have been ongoing for a number of months, it wasn’t until Aston Martin revealed its revived Valkyrie Hypercar programme last week that it publicly acknowledged the new GT models for the first time.
