This week saw another wave of rapid-fire announcements from teams declaring their entries into the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, which began on 21 August when AWA announced it would return with its single-car GTD effort.
Here’s a quick catchup on who’s announced their entries from this past week, as certified by IMSA.
TDS Racing confirmed its entry on 5 September, and its two main drivers. Steven Thomas and Mikkel Jensen will be back to run the full season in the #11 ORECA LMP2 07.
Winward Racing, which is all but certain to win the GTD Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships in 2024, announced on 10 September it will return to GTD next season with the #57 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The following day, JDC-Miller MotorSports confirmed it would return with its privately entered #85 Porsche 963 in the premier GTP category.
They’ll join the restructured three-car Cadillac effort with WTRAndretti and Action Express, the two-car BMW M Team RLL programme, the returning alliance of Acura and Meyer Shank Racing with two ARX-06s, and the new Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Valkyrie. Pencil in Porsche Penske Motorsports’ continued factory programme and GTP is already filling out nicely.
Yesterday, we saw the announcement of two more LMP2 entries.
Riley will retain Gar Robinson, Felipe Fraga, and Josh Burdon to drive the #74 ORECA next season.
And PR1 Mathiasen Motorsport has announced it will run the #52 ORECA as the sole entrant of that car, following the news that Inter Europol Competition would form its own entry, the #43 ORECA, that will be operated out of the team’s new base in the United States.
The deadline for entries into the 2025 Roar Before The 24 and the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona is 8 October 2024.
