CEFC TRSM Racing has announced that it has signed former Le Mans class winner Oliver Turvey for the 2018/19 ‘Super Season’, completing the team’s two-car LMP1 line-up.
Turvey, who currently competes in Formula E with NIO, will make his fourth Le Mans start with the team in June, and race alongside Oliver Rowland and Alex Brundle in the team’s #6 Ginetta G-60-LT-P1. The team’s other LMP1 challenger features the confirmed line-up of Leo Roussel, Charlie Robertson and Dean Stoneman.
“It is great to have another big talent in our driver line up with the addition of Oliver,” Graeme Lowdon, CEFC TRSM’s President and Sporting Director said. “He has vast experience in sports cars including three 24 Hours of Le Mans which is, of course, beneficial for us.
“We are very happy and confident with our completed driver line up and we have been working hard since the Prologue to ensure that we are in the best possible shape for the first race at Spa in a few weeks time. Although it will be a big challenge for all of the new LMP1-NH teams, we are now just keen to go racing.”
Turvey added: “I am delighted to be joining CEFC TRSM Racing for the 2018/19 Super Season in the FIA World Endurance Championship. After winning at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2, it has always been my aim to race in the top category and to challenge for the overall victory. I would like to thank my NIO Formula E team for allowing me to take up this opportunity and I am very grateful to Graeme Lowdon, John Booth and all at CEFC TRSM Racing for selecting me to race with their team in LMP1.
“I can’t wait to get in the car for the first round of the WEC at Spa!”
