The IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship moves on to Road America this weekend with a 37-car entry for the Fastlane Sportscar Weekend.
There are no changes to the six-car DPi entry, this is the penultimate race meeting for the formula with just Petit Le Mans to follow after the GT classes-only race at VIR later this month.
A six-car entry in LMP2 sees Tristan Nunez return to action after being replaced by Olivier Pla in the Whelen Cadillac mid-season. He replaces Jonathan Bomarito in the #11 PR1 Mathiesen Oreca for the remainder of the season, the ex-Mazda factory driver apparently having decided to retire from pro driving with immediate effect, bringing forward that process from the end of the 2022 season.
“Tristan is one of my best friends and I truly believe in his talent”, said Jonathan Bomarito. “He deserves to be in a top-ride and already has a great relationship with Steven. So, I felt the timing was right to step away from racing to get Tristan back in the car as soon as possible!”
And there’s no place on the entry for the planned MSport Oreca again after the team missed their initial planned debut at Watkins Glen.
LMP3 meanwhile sees multiple changes in a nine-car entry:
Danish hotshot Malthe Jakobsen, who featured in a second-place finish for Sean Creech Motorsport’s #33 Ligier at Daytona and a win at Sebring, makes his fourth appearance of the season alongside Joao Barbosa replacing Lance Willsey.
Performance Tech meanwhile sees a completely changed line-up in their #38 Ligier, the team, which in a variety of classes has finished on the podium at this event in 2016, 17, 19, 20 & 21 fields James French, who featured in each of this podium finishes, and also sees the team’s 2022 endurance driver, Cameron Shields on board, this a late change after full-season driver Dan Goldburg was faced with a last-minute conflict.
JDC-Miller Motorsports meanwhile fields a Duqueine, entered as #90 for Gerry Kraut and Scott Andrews.
For Andrews, it’s the fourth race of the season in a fourth different car! He raced to the podium at the Rolex 24 in the GTD class AMG of Gilbert Korthoff Motorsport, was drafted in at Vasser Sullivan aboard their GTD class Lexus at Sebring, had a one-off appearance at CTMP in the #74 Riley Motorsports Ligier and now switches to JDC Miller in their Duqueine.
There are no changes to the five-car GTD Pro line-up but an 11-car GTD line-up sees the return of the NTE Sport Lamborghini for Jaden Conwright and Marco Holzer.
WeatherTech Racing’s #79 AMG sees Spa 24 Hours victor Dani Juncadella partnered with Cooper MacNeil, this is the Spaniard’s third IMSA event of the year across two AMGs and in both GTD Pro and GTD!
