United Autosports has become the first customer team to receive a 2020 LMP3 car. The British-flagged team has taken delivery of two brand new Ligier JS P320s, picking them up from Ligier’s facility in Magny Cours last weekend.
United has ordered six brand new JS P320s for use globally. This continues the team’s relationship with Ligier in LMP3 competition. United claimed the 2016 and 2017 ELMS titles with the French constructor, taking eight wins and 22 podiums in four ELMS seasons. Since it began racing in LMP3, United has racked up 18 wins and 52 podium finishes.
“The new Ligier JS P320 looks fantastic and I would like to congratulate the whole team at Ligier for developing the next generation of LMP3 cars. I am certain it will turn out to be as successful as the Ligier JS P3,” said Richard Dean, co-owner of United Autosports.
“We have started our own development work immediately with the car going straight to a seven-post rig test. We are pleased to continue our hugely successful relationship with Ligier into a fifth year by committing to the new generation LMP3 car. The Ligier JS P3 served us very well in the first four years so I’m hopeful that will continue into the second generation of LMP3 cars.”
Ligier is the first of the four 2020 LMP3 constructors to begin customer deliveries. Ligier told DSC that it plans to deliver five JS P320s by the end of the month.
